Unexpected Blessings
These pictures right here is an example how God shows up in unexpected ways! He has showed up when I have least expected it and when I have needed it the most. Both of these pictures that you see where notes given to my brother and I unanimously when we were struggling financially and were in some of our darkest years. Kindness goes a long way and in this case 14 years ago long.
I believe my brother was a junior in high school that year. 16 I believe and I was 24. We were living in an apartment and we hadn’t live together very long. We were both trying to navigate living on our own together and I had not been my brother’s legal guardian for very long. I was trying to play mom and be a big sister too… Probably one of the hardest times of my life trying to juggle the two and still figuring out myself in the process. I don’t know if you have ever raised a teenage boy but its expensive trying to feed them. My brother could eat 10 wings and a large pizza all by himself in one setting… haha… wowza!
One day my brother came home and he had a note from the front office of school. Someone (whom I still don’t know till this day) had left a note saying that they paid our rent for the month. Not only that, but we got another note later and it had said our rent had been paid for another two months! Some lovely person ended up in total paying four months of our rent for us!! God showed up and used that person to bless us! I never knew people to be so generous. I have never forgotten and have kept these for all these years.
Never underestimate what God can do. These notes and the generous gift were given to us right after I had just had an abortion. It was the lowest and darkest point in my life. I had finally got on my knees and cried out to God for help and that I needed Him. I desperately needed Jesus to come in my life and change me and when He did these notes and the payment of our apartment were the first blessing of many that came afterwards. I didn’t deserve His mercy but that’s how much God loves us. He wants us to have a relationship with Him and trust Him. He used that sweet person to bless us. That person showed us in a world that can be so dark there are still good people out there. God takes care of his people. He wants to bless us and He wants us to open up that door to Him. He is waiting.
Thank God I am in a totally different place than I was back than and I hope God has and is still using me as a vessel to bless others and continues to. I have done what this person has asked and I have paid it forward and I will continue to till the Lord decides to bring me home. I am forever grateful! Never underestimate what God can do through you and how he can use you to bless others and bring others to Christ.
Do you remember something that someone has done for you that has made an impact in your life? Has God blessed you in unexpected ways? Have you blessed someone lately?
